Client Situation

Uno de nuestros clientes, un destacado proveedor de televisión por cable y radiodifusión de Irlanda se enfrentaba a una situación similar. Cuando comenzaron su viaje de adopción de la nube, se dieron cuenta de que tenían poca o ninguna visibilidad centralizada de su gasto general en la nube entre dos hiperescaladores. Estas circunstancias hacen que la estimación, planificación y gestión de presupuestos sean extremadamente difíciles.

Nuestro cliente buscó un socio para obtener visibilidad de sus costos de nube y desafíos de previsión. Su objetivo era controlar los gastos de la nube, detectar fugas de costos y optimizar la asignación del presupuesto en su viaje para maximizar el valor de su inversión en la nube y lograr un crecimiento sostenible.

El enfoque basado en plataforma permite optimizar la utilización de la nube y reducir los costos.

Diagnosis

El cliente enfrentó desafíos debido a la ausencia de un sistema automatizado y centralizado para identificar anomalías de costos y rastrear los gastos de la nube. Además, carecían de una visión integral de sus gastos en la nube en diferentes aplicaciones, unidades de negocios y entornos, lo que obstaculizaba la capacidad de analizar y administrar sus presupuestos de manera eficiente. Esto provocó un seguimiento ineficaz y aumentos inesperados en los costes de la nube.

Además, la dependencia del cliente de procedimientos de cumplimiento de infraestructura manuales o semiautomáticos impidió los esfuerzos para gestionar eficientemente las operaciones financieras y en la nube. Esto ralentizó los procesos y aumentó el riesgo de errores.

Solving It

Prodapt llevó a cabo una evaluación integral del nivel de madurez de las operaciones financieras (FinOps) existentes del cliente utilizando la metodología de evaluación de madurez de FinOps. Proporciona un marco y un conjunto de mejores prácticas para abordar los problemas de visibilidad en el gasto en la nube y la optimización de costos/presupuesto.

Para mejorar las capacidades operativas y financieras de nuestros clientes en el entorno de la nube, implementamos una plataforma de gestión de la nube. Esta plataforma impulsó la gestión eficaz de las actividades de CloudOps y FinOps. Establecimos un marco de etiquetado para administrar, rastrear y organizar recursos de manera eficiente, garantizar la visibilidad de costos en múltiples hiperescaladores y cumplir con las pautas presupuestarias. Este marco jugó un papel crucial al permitir la asignación precisa de costos, el seguimiento y garantizar el cumplimiento de las directrices regulatorias.

Se implementó un panel centralizado (panel único) para proporcionar una vista integral y unificada de todos los recursos de la nube en múltiples hiperescaladores. Se implementó un sistema automatizado para permitir un análisis exhaustivo del gasto, la asignación de recursos y el uso de la nube en varios niveles. Este sistema lee datos de la cuenta de facturación de GCP a través de la API y los transfiere al panel. Además, se incorporó un modelo de pronóstico avanzado para monitorear continuamente los patrones de uso de la nube, utilizando datos históricos para entregar proyecciones de costos altamente precisas.

Nuestras soluciones brindaron beneficios comerciales sustanciales, permitiéndoles optimizar su presupuesto y asignar recursos de manera eficiente, lo que resultó en un ahorro potencial del 23 % en gastos en la nube. Al implementar prácticas efectivas de gestión de recursos, eliminamos con éxito el desperdicio y optimizamos el uso de recursos, lo que generó ahorros en costos de recursos del 19 %. Además, la implementación de un modelo de cumplimiento presupuestario ayudó en un 12% al control del consumo de la nube.
